Nicola Cowan is an experienced Director specializing in providing independent fiduciary services and insolvency and restructuring advice to offshore registered funds and companies with extensive experience in number of investment strategies such as structured finance, digital assets, and other private equity strategies. In her role Nicola acts as a Court appointed Official Liquidator, Court appointed receiver and voluntary liquidator. Nicola also sits as a board member on a variety of offshore registered funds and companies.
Nicola has over 15 years’ experience in insolvency and restructuring. Prior to joining FFP Cayman, Nicola was the in-house liquidations manager at a leading fund governance provider where she oversaw a portfolio of voluntary liquidations and strike offs and specialized in the voluntary liquidation of hedge funds and related structures.
Nicola started her career in the UK spending eight years at KPMG and Ernst & Young advising on the insolvency and restructuring of a wide variety of companies in the retail, manufacturing and service sectors. She has considerable expertise in pre-pack and trading administrations, early exit distressed sales, independent business reviews and asset realisations. She also worked with KPMG in the Cayman Islands as a manager in the restructuring group where she also managed a large portfolio of voluntary and official hedge fund liquidations, including a number of high-profile insolvencies.
Nicola holds a BA (Hons) degree in International from Manchester University in the UK. She is a Chartered Accountant and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), INSOL and IWIRC.
Nicola is a qualified Court appointed liquidator in the Cayman Islands and a Certified Director, accredited by ICSA Canada and is also registered with the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority as an Approved Director.
